In the June update I mentioned that a paper from my PhD work had been accepted for publication in a peer reviewed journal. Well, I am pleased to say that this paper has now been published online ahead of print. So this is the big news for the Foxwood Personal Training July update. The title of the paper is ‘Isometric strength training in endurance runners: A theoretical framework for adaptations and performance outcomes’. This paper has been published in the NSCA’s Strength and Conditioning Journal. Here is the Link to the paper: Isometric Strength Training research paper
The second major news item for the Foxwood Personal Training July Update is an outstanding competitive performance from my client Matt Kiddle. Matt tends to focus on road running in the winter, and ultra distance trail running in the summer. In July this year, for the fifth consecutive time, Matt completed the Lakeland 100. This in itself is a remarkable achievement, since half of the people on the start line each year will fail to make the finish line. So to have five consecutive finishes of the Lakeland 100 is very special. However, what made this one even more special is that he managed to improve his best ever time by over an hour!
Those are the two major updates from Foxwood Personal Training this month. All my clients are training hard. There are more races on the horizon. The Vale of York half marathon is in September, and the York Marathon is in October. I will have clients racing in those. I also have clients gearing up for the cross country season, which starts in October. Additionally, I have clients training for the Manchester Half Marathon in October and the Leeds Abbey Dash 10Km in November.
